Who are we?

One big, lively bunch – one feathered and furry FAMILY

Our story

Parrot Centre was founded in 2015 in Rapla County by its first owner Katarina. In 2017 we visited as a family, took a photo with the star of the show, Mac, heard Robbie say "Tšau!" and "Hallo!", and left as delighted guests. Who could have guessed that Mac and Robbie would one day become part of our family. Covid closed many doors for our family, and the Parrot Centre of that time was also in difficulty. In 2022 we decided to take over the Parrot Centre and since then we have been running it from our own home in Tartu – and all the birds have become equal family members, just like our dog, rabbits, guinea pigs, chameleons or cats.

Although the Parrot Centre story began with three main characters – 11-year-old macaw Mac, 23-year-old African grey Robbie and 23-year-old ringneck Lucas – it has since grown into a parrot family of over 50. We have nearly 15 different species.

We are literally "one family", because all our furry and feathered ones live with us under one roof, not in an outdoor aviary or garden shed. When you visit, you experience what daily life with pets (and in such numbers!) is like: chirping, singing, someone flying over your head, someone (usually Millie, Mac or Robbie) landing on your shoulder or singing "Happy birthday!" or saying "I love you!", someone chattering on our "bird tree" or barking like the dog – or maybe it's our own little happy family dog 🙃

And then of course there are those sweet guinea pigs and bunnies – fluffy balls always angling for a cuddle. We're never bored!

Our space

Our home

The whole centre is in our family home. It's a real home where the parrots live with the family, not in a separate building or garden shed.

50 m² parrot room

A large, bright room with special UV lighting where the birds have climbing areas with different branches, toys and plenty of space to fly.
